Tiwu History

James Jones

The Transport and Industrial Workers’ Union expresses great sorrow and a deep sense of loss on the death of Comrade James Jones, who served on the executive of TIWU, as a Vice President from 1978 to 2003 before he moved on to the Communication Workers’ Union, where he served the working class until his untimely death..

Comrade Jones, who served TIWU during the difficult but exhilarating times of the 1970’s, proved himself to be not just a steadfast and loyal servant of the working class, but is widely acknowledged in industrial relations circles as a highly skilled and vastly experienced grievance/labour relations officers, one of the best advocates of organised labour around the table and in the Industrial Court. more.
