President

Serving his second term, Comrade Roland Sutherland, 63 years of age, worked at PTSC in 1970 during the uprising that shook the country. This was soon after 167 workers were dismissed in the famous bus strike of 1969.

Since that time he has embarked on educating workers about their rights and entitlements and tried to transform the culture of timidity especially among shop stewards.

He became a Shop Steward in 1982; Branch President in 1984 which he held until 1994. He became a Trustee in 1984 and served  for two terms. He was also General Officer and Assistant General Secretary.

He holds the position of 3rd Vice President of NATUC..

Comrade Sutherland was exposed to training in the USSR and has served on the Transcorp Credit Union Board as President and Vice President.
